This would be a great pic if it weren’t for Detroit’s window treatment. Atlanta-Detroit-Tokyo-Singapore-Phuket. Went via Detroit so we could ride the 747. They are not going to be around forever. Going to pause for about two days before going on to Phuket. Pretty excited.

Getting on a 747 before they’re all out of service is high on my list of flight-related things to do.

So, we’re thinking of doing the Tokyo -> Phuket trip ourselves this fall I am being sent to Tokyo anyway. What airline are you flying from Tokyo -> Singapore -> Phuket? Also, any recommendations on places to stay, things to see in Phuket?

Thanks in advance!

Delta from NRT to SIN. Then SilkAir to Phuket. I’ve never taken SilkAir before, but they are tied in as Singapore’s regional carrier. I think it was $250 round trip for that leg.

I’ve never been to Phuket either, so I will have to let you know next week what we find. We will have a week there, but 3 days are for a work conference. We plan on seeing the giant Buddha, Snorkeling and seeing the elephants. Of course we do some street food and maybe hit a bar or two in town.

Singapore is fun too. There is a bar at the top of Marina Bay Sands that you can get to. It is cheaper to get a beer there than go to the visitors platform. Raffles is cool, but overpriced, the Eye is fun and walking the grand prix track is cool.

I like DTW, but the window dots just confuse the heck out of me. We flew through there a few weeks back on a trip to Tampa. Outside of a five hour delay leaving home because the inbound plane couldn’t land to pick us up it went well. I was sort of surprised that the DTW-TPA flight is handled by MD-88’s. I just assumed it would be 737’s or A320’s.

ETA: Have a good trip.
